Privacy Policy

@Road® is committed to protecting your privacy online. You are important to us, so we will take special care to maintain your trust. In order to fully understand your rights, we encourage you to read our Privacy Policy and to consult our Terms of Service page. Please direct questions regarding this statement to privacy@road-inc.com.

@Road is a leading provider of LocationSmartSM Web- and wireless-enabled productivity enhancement solutions for businesses and consumers on the move. With our patented technology that integrates the Global Positioning System, wireless data networks and the Internet, @Road provides a wireless Internet connection to location-based content and services that give our customers the solutions they need to more efficiently manage their business, access information and communicate while in transit. The @Road Web site (www.atroad.com, www.road.com ) is owned and operated by At Road, Inc. (referred to herein as "@Road").

When does @Road collect my personally identifiable information?
@Road may gather information from @Road service users and visitors in several ways, including voluntary registration and submissions, cookie technology and IP addresses.

Registration. When you register as a member of @Road, we collect information that helps us to personalize content for you. At the initial registration screen for subscribers of the @Road service, we ask for your name, address, telephone number and email address. Depending on specific services (message boards, e-mail, auctions, contests), you may be required to provide specific information necessary to provide you the service. This may include your user name, password and address. On occasion, we may also collect additional personal information if you choose to enter a contest or complete a survey form. The more information you volunteer, the better we are able to customize your experience.

Other Submissions. In addition to registration we may ask you for personal information at other times, including without limitation when you use @Road services, participate in auctions, promotions or contests or ask a question about or report a problem with the @Road service or the Web site. If you disclose personal information when you provide content to us for display, including without limitation when you participate in contests or user surveys, the information you disclose becomes public once it is posted to the @Road Web site.

Cookies. We use cookies to store and track your preferences to provide you with a more personalized user experience. A cookie is a message that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Most Internet sites use cookies. You can set your browser preferences to reject all cookies (see below) but then you will not be able to participate in most customized services, and you may be required to repeatedly type in your personal information in order to participate in various services or promotions. Cookies make your experience easier by saving your preferences and passwords. We also use cookies that contain no personal information at all. These cookies help us estimate our audience size, determine which areas of the @Road Web site are the most popular, and serve targeted advertising. No advertiser's cookie is ever placed on users' computers.

IP Address. We may also log IP addresses for the purposes of systems administration or to report information in aggregate form to our advertisers (e.g., how many visitors logged in to our Web site). An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer automatically when you use the Internet. When you visit a particular Web page in the @Road Web site, our servers log your IP address. We do not link your IP address to anything personally identifiable.  In addition, our email service includes IP addresses in outgoing mail message headers.

How is my personally identifiable information used?
@Road’s primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide you, the user, with a customized experience on our Web site.

Customized Look and Feel. @Road gathers user information to provide you with an enjoyable user experience. For instance, your personal information enables us to greet you when you return to our Web site and to provide you with your specified preferences (e.g., Web site look and feel and preferred categories), as well as services we think will be of interest to you. We review our users' preferences, demographics, traffic patterns, and other information in the aggregate so that we can better understand who our audience is and what it is our users want.

Banner Advertising. Tracking user preferences also helps us serve you targeted advertising. Targeted advertisements are probably more interesting for you and are more productive for our advertisers. Please note that we do not share your personal information with advertisers. We or third party ad servers acting on our behalf act as the intermediary between you and the advertisers that want to reach you.

E-mail. If you register with our Web site, from time to time we may email you with informative messages about our services or third party products and services we believe may be of interest to you if you have asked us to do so. We will not send you these mailings unless you check the appropriate box when you register. If you do elect to receive such offers, you may update your profile at any time after registration so that you no longer receive such offers and mailings. Please check the registration screens applicable to the service or promotion in which you are participating for specific instructions on how to update your user profile and/or opt out of receiving offers and mailings.

With whom does @Road share information?
We may share user information in order to provide you with a more integrated and customized user experience within our Web site. In general, we will not disclose your personal information to third parties except to the extent necessary to provide you with a service you have requested, or under circumstances required by law. We will disclose your personal information when we believe in good faith that any applicable law, regulation, or legal process requires it, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect or enforce our rights or the rights of another user or when we deem necessary to maintain, service or improve our products and services. We also disclose aggregated user statistics in order to describe our services and reach to prospective partners, advertisers, and other third parties and to offer new services to our customers. However, aggregate data is not traceable to you specifically.

Specific uses of personal information that vary from this Privacy Policy (if any) may be found in the Terms of Service or privacy policies applicable to that particular service. To the extent that you are notified of uses of your personal information that are different from those described in this Privacy Policy during your enrollment in any particular service, contest or promotion, the uses of which you are specifically notified will govern that service, contest or promotion. Please be on the look-out for terms of service and privacy policies applicable to the services for which you sign-up or in which you participate. Please note, however, that we do not control the privacy policies of our advertisers and other third party sites to which we provide banner ads and links. If you click-through a banner ad or link to a third party site and submit your information to an advertiser, you will be subject to their own privacy policies. We assume no responsibility or liability for these third party policies or the actions of third parties.

What are my options to control the use of my personal information?
Most browsers can be configured to reject cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. If you choose to reject all cookies you will be unable to use those @Road services that require registration in order to participate. You may cancel your registration to the @Road Web site (not the GeoManagerSM service) and/or request the removal of your personal information from our user records by sending an e-mail to privacy@road-inc.com. We will send an email to confirm your request. After you respond, we will remove your information from our database. Residual information may remain in our archives and records, but this information will not be used for a commercial purpose (however we may notify you of major changes to our products and services from time to time). We reserve the right to maintain information on registered users who have violated our Terms of Service or other agreements with us or who have had their access to @Road restricted in order to detect repeat offenders.

What else should I know about my privacy?
You should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose personal information online in a public area, that information may be collected and used by others. We do not control the actions of our visitors and registered users. If you disclose personal information in a review, bulletin board or any other publicly accessible place in the @Road Web site, you do so at your own risk and you understand that your submitted information may be collected and used by others to send you unsolicited messages or advertisements, or for other purposes. Please remember that protection of your privacy begins with you. You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any password you use to register, and you should always be careful and responsible whenever disclosing information online. Although we will use all reasonable efforts to safeguard the privacy of your personal information, transmissions made by means of the Internet cannot be made absolutely secure. @Road assumes no liability for disclosure of data due to errors in transmission or actions of unauthorized third parties.  @Road cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk.

Acceptance of Privacy Policy.
By using the @Road Web site and services, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree or are not comfortable with any policy described in this Privacy Policy, your only remedy is to discontinue use of the @Road Web site. We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Your continued use of any portion of the @Road Web site following notification or posting of such changes will constitute your acceptance of those changes.
